COUNCIL HIGHLIGHTS – February 14, 2023

Library Board Bylaw – Library Board Bylaw 19.22 updates the previous bylaw changing the budget deadlines to better align with Yellowhead County’s schedule discussions as well as providing the Board and the County the opportunity to work jointly when determining library locations and leases.

Federal Boundary Changes – Council will send a letter expressing their concern over a proposed federal electoral boundary change which could place Yellowhead County into two federal electoral boundaries. The letter will request that the municipality of Yellowhead County stay within one federal riding.

Pathway to the Park – Council received a request from the West Yellowhead Trail Society to have the Pathway to the Park Trail incorporated into Yellowhead County’s Trails Master Plan. The request will be brought back to Council for further discussion at a future Council Meeting.

Gravel Supply & Shoulder Pull Tenders – Council awarded the following tenders:

  • West of Edson Gravel Supply (2023-2025) awarded to Jade Oilfield Maintenance for $923,066.00
  • Wildwood Gravel Supply (2023-2025) awarded to McLeod Valley Sand & Gravel for $1,635,735.00
  • Road-Rehabilitation/Shoulder-Pull Program (2023) awarded to Re-Call Gravel Systems for $997,708.60

Assessment Review Board Officials – As per Yellowhead County’s membership in the Capital Region Assessment Services Commission (CRASC), Council is required to annually appoint Assessment Review board members. Raymond Ralph was appointed as ARB Chairman, Gerryl Amorin as Certified ARB Clerk and the following individuals as the Certified Panelists:

  • Tina Groszko
  • Stewart Hennig
  • Richard Knowles
  • Raymond Ralph
