Yellowhead County is chock full of public and private campgrounds. There are campgrounds on lakes, in deep river gorges and in the mountainous backcountry.

Camping gives families quality time together. It’s a chance to break away from the ordinary routine, learn new skills, experience the outdoors, and enjoy each other’s company.

Camping should be an enjoyable time spent with family and friends, but wildlife encounters can change a perfect day into a miserable one.

It is important to remember to keep your camp stall clean and free of garbage and debris. Garbage and foodstuff can attract all sorts of critters. Skunks, raccoons or even bears might find themselves in your stall in search of their next meal. By properly securing, storing and disposing of your garbage and food you can eliminate the need for these animals to visit your campground. This is good not only for your safety but for the animals as well. Bears that associate food with people are often destroyed because they will continue to look towards humans as their food supply, endangering themselves and others in the process.More Camping, Outdoor Activities, Travel & Safety, and Wildlife information can be found here on the SRD site.
