Yellowhead County is seeking workers for the Monday, October 20, 2025 general municipal Election.
Election workers are required to manage the election process which includes setting up the voting stations, greeting voters, asking questions of voters, assisting with the voting process, completing the required forms, and counting ballots at the end of the day.

Requirements for Presiding Deputy and Deputy Returning Officer:
- Must be 18 or older;
- Must be legally able to work in Canada;
- Available to work beginning in the morning until completion of the ballot count on Election Day;
- Available to attend the training session on date TBD;
- Election experience is an asset;
- Will be reimbursed for expenses and remuneration will be paid.
Presiding Deputy Returning Officer (PDRO)
The Presiding Deputy Returning Officer (PDRO) is responsible for overseeing all Election Day Activities at the voting station. This includes ensuring that all election procedures as outlined in the LAEA are followed, managing the voting process, and addressing any issues that may arise during the election.

As a supervisor, your role is crucial in maintaining order within the voting station. Your oversight of the voting stations and workers is key to a smooth and efficient voting process. As a supervisor, you will not only oversee but also actively assist with the setup of the voting station at 9:00 AM on election day, ensuring everything is in place one hour before the station opens. Understand each position within the voting station and assist where necessary.
- Distribute ballots to DRO(s) and assist DRO(s) in facilitating the vote.
- Meet and greet voters and ensure they have their identification.
- Answer any questions or concerns voters may have.
- Monitor voting compartments throughout the day to ensure no campaign material is left in them, and they are adequately stocked.
- Liaise with Candidates Agents and Scrutineers.
- Ensure secrecy of the vote.
- Ensure the proper closing of the voting station and record the results accurately. This includes tallying the votes and documenting any irregularities or incidents that occurred during the voting process.
- Return materials to Yellowhead County’s Edson office.
Remuneration: $425.00 for Election Day
$150.00 for Training (approx. half day in Edson)
$56.00 for Meals and incidentals Total: $631.00 plus mileage
Deputy Returning Officer (DRO)
The Deputy Returning Officer (DRO) plays a vital role in the election process, working in close collaboration with the PDRO at the voting station. Their joint efforts facilitate the smooth running of the voting process and the accurate counting of ballots at the end of voting, ensuring the integrity of the election.

- Assist with the setup of the voting station at 9:00 AM on election day.
- Follow the instructions of the PDRO to open the station at 10:00 AM.
- Process voters by checking their identification, verifying whether they are on the voter list, providing registration forms as needed, and issuing ballots to eligible voters.
- Help with the counting of the ballots.
- Assist with cleaning and closing the voting station.
- Perform other tasks as assigned by the PDRO.
Remuneration: $350.00 for Election Day
$150.00 for Training (approx. half day in Edson)
$56.00 for Meals and incidentals Total: $556.00 plus mileage
Second Shift Deputy Returning Officer
The Second Shift Deputy Returning Officer has all the duties of Deputy Returning Officer; however, they will begin their shift at 2:00 PM and remain at the voting station until the ballots have been counted and the station is cleaned and closed.

- Assist with the voting station starting at 4:00 PM on election day.
- Process voters by checking their identification, verifying whether they are on the voter list, providing registration forms as needed, and issuing ballots to eligible voters.
- Help with the counting of the ballots.
- Assist with cleaning and closing the voting station.
- Perform other tasks as assigned by the PDRO.
Remuneration: $250.00 for Election Day (minimum of 7 hours)
$150.00 for Training (approx. half day in Edson)
$ 33.00 for Meals and incidentals Total: $433.00
