Welcome to the County 2023

Meet and Greet events for new residents!

Moving to a new community can be exciting, but it can also be difficult, complicated, and sometimes lonely.  Learning about the local community and meeting neighbours can help the whole process.

Yellowhead County FCSS and the local libraries are inviting those that would like to learn about their new community and meet some neighbours to one of our “Welcome to the County” sessions this September.

Welcome to the County will have information on services and programs offered through the County’s Community Services Department, including upcoming programming, available grants, and the various services available.  It’s also an opportunity to learn more about the local area, history, and even services that are offered in neighbouring communities, such as the location of key services like doctors or accountants, or information on garbage pick-up.

Sessions are being held on the following days and locations:

  • Niton Junction Library (located in the school):  September 14th from 6:30-8:00 PM
  • Wildwood Library (5215-50 St.):  September 19th from 6:30-8:00 PM
  • Evansburg Library (located in Grand Trunk High School):  September 21st from 6:30-8:00 PM

Local residents interested in meeting and welcoming County newcomers are also invited to attend! Snacks and refreshments, as well as prizes will be available.  Please register at yhcounty.ca/registration for one of the sessions, or call 780-325-3782.  Registration will remain open until the day of the session.  Drop-ins will be welcome as well.

Yellowhead County FCSS is a funding partnership between the Provincial Government and local municipalities to provide preventive social supports and services that enhance the well-being of Albertans, families, and communities. FCSS programs are intended to help individuals adopt healthy lifestyles, improve their quality of life, and build capacity to prevent and deal with crisis situations should they arise.
