Fire Prevention Week 2023

Fire Prevention Week is October 8-14, 2023 and Yellowhead County would like to remind you to be prepared and have a plan in place for your family in case of fire.

Preparedness can help keep your family safe! Make an escape plan with everyone at your home at https://www.nfpa.org/Public-Education/Staying-safe/Preparedness/Escape-planning.

To stay prepared:

  • Plan your escape route
  • Test your smoke alarms
  • Choose an outside meeting place
  • Make a regular reminder to go over your plan
  • Practice home fire drills

This year’s Fire Prevention Week theme is cooking safety.

Did you know?
Cooking fires are the leading cause of home fires and home fire injuries. Unattended cooking is the leading cause of cooking fires and deaths.

Here are some great tips for safe cooking practices: (find more at fpw.org)
