COUNCIL HIGHLIGHTS
January 24, 2023

Heritage Plan Adopted by Council – The Heritage Advisory Board Strategic Plan 2022-2025 updates the goals that have guided the County’s Heritage Program over the last decade. The new 2022-2025 plan added cemeteries and the Tipple Park Museum as additional goals within the Heritage Program Strategic Plan.

Parks & Rec Plan Adopted by Council – The Parks & Recreation Strategic Plan 2022-2025 identified four recreation-based priorities that make the foundation of the Plan. These priorities focus on parks and other recreation-based facilities, providing opportunities for recreation-based activities, the development and maintenance of County trails, and the delivery of recreational services to County residents.

Bylaw 20.22 – Council gave Third Reading of Bylaw 20.22 for a property in NW 32-53-17-W5M to be redistricted from Rural District (RD) to Country Residential District (CRD) and Protection District (PD). This will allow for a subdivision of the property to create two new country residential parcels. A Public Hearing was held for Bylaw 20.22 on January 10, 2023.

Municipal Planning Commission – Municipal Planning Commission Bylaw 23.22 was adopted by Council. A Municipal Planning Commission gives another option for facilitating development requests for unique or contentious development proposals and allows for increased public engagement during the development approval process.

Brule Horse Holding Lease – Council approved a ten-year horse holding lease for 5.86 acres (2.37 Ha) of land legally described as Part of the NW-10-50-27-W5M for a yearly sum of $300.00.

Audit Planning Letter – Council confirmed receipt of the 2022 Audit Planning Letter from Administration on behalf of Metrix Group LLP for the period ending December 31, 2022.

Agricultural Services Appeal Committee Appointments – Yellowhead County Council appointed three Members-at-Large (Jack Williams, Mandy Ford, Len Soukeroff), one Council Member (Patrick Soroka) and one alternate Council Member (Brigitte Lemieux) to the Agricultural Services Appeal Committee.
