Media Release from Canfor (Whitecourt) Forest Products:

The White Area Commercial Timber Permit Partnership will be holding an open house in MacKay, Alberta at the community hall on December 15th from 12PM – 8PM to discuss plans for its Commercial Timber Permit in the White Area.

Stakeholders and members of the public are invited to review our planned activities for block and road development, harvesting, reforestation and herbicide treatment for the Nojack area. Input is gathered and utilized to influence operations where site specific concerns are identified, such as trails, camping areas, recreational areas etc.

Canfor, Millar Western, Alexis Nakota Sioux Nation, Alexander First Nation, and the Nation owned businesses of Backwoods Energy Services and Alexander Contracting & Consulting are partnering to carry out the White Area timber harvesting.
