Winter Burning

Safe Burning Practices

Above seasonal temperatures and the lack of precipitation for the past month have driven our fire danger to MODERATE in the forest area. This means that a fire can easily ignite where there is exposed dead or dry vegetation.

Firefighters strongly advise using additional caution and ensure you have sufficient firefighting equipment.

You may want to consider postponing any winter burning until sufficient precipitation is received, as fires have the potential to spread rapidly. If you have previously conducted winter burning, go back and check your burns to ensure they are extinguished.
