Council Highlights April 8 2025

Audited Financial Statement
Council adopted the 2024 Audited Financial Statement as presented by the Auditors. Council approved the allocation of the annual surplus to the restricted fund tax rate stabilization as per policy, with $3,584,041 included in the 2025 Budget, and $1,592,809 for future projects to minimize or eliminate the need for borrowing.

Attraction and Retention Committee (ARC)|
Members of ARC presented the group’s various objectives of attracting and retaining healthcare professionals to this region, along with multiple options to make the region competitive and desirable.

Brule Community Hall Flooring
The hall sustained water damage in February due to a frozen water line break that damaged several areas of the building. The estimated replacement costs of $272,000 are fully covered under the insurance claim, in addition to a deductible of $5,000.

Evansburg Museum and Library Integration
Council directed Administration to proceed with the detailed design phase of the Tipple Park Museum and Evansburg Library. Council also voted to include additional funding of $354,420, bringing the total anticipated project budget to $1.55 million. This project will combine the Tipple Park Museum and Evansburg Library into an integrated building design.

Human Resource Policy
After reviewing Human Resource Policy 1300 and accompanying updated Administrative directives, Council directed Administration to bring back a revised policy and accompanying directives at a later date for further discussion.

Special Multi-Year Project
Council approved a $25,463,430 Community Connect Special Project, with the County’s contribution being $8,627,018, with the remainder coming from outside funding.
