Farmers Pesticide Certification Course
Are you a local producer needing your Farmer Pesticide Certification in order to access restricted pesticide products? Then this course is for you. This is a full 8 hour in person course with a written exam required at the end. Lunch and refreshments will be provided.
Details: February 5, 2026 from 8:30am-4:30pm at the Wildwood Yellowhead County Office
The Farmer Pesticide Certification course is a tool intended to help farmers to reduce risks associated with pesticide use. This course is recommended under the Alberta Environmental Farm Plan but is also mandatory for farmers who wish to use restricted pesticides that require certification.
One pesticide that farmers may have been accustomed to obtaining in the past without any specific training or certificates was Compound 1080 for Coyote Control. Rules will be changing for Sodium Monofluoroacetate Predacide (Compound 1080) and as of March 2026 farmers will be required to have a Farmer Pesticide Certificate to use this product.
