Rural Internet Speed Test

We need your help to tell the true story of Rural Alberta’s internet speeds.

Highspeed rural internet is critical for economic development, engaging in the digital economy, and working and learning from home. The Government of Canada has announced the goal of providing access to 50 Mbps download and 10 Mbps upload speeds to all Canadians by 2030. Rural Municipalities of Alberta (RMA), in partnership with Canadian Internet Registration Authority (CIRA), is conducting internet speed testing to see how far we need to get to accomplish this goal.

Tests taken so far are well below the federal government’s standard for basic internet speeds. This gap demonstrates the need to bring high-speed internet to all Albertans, but we need more tests completed!
