Wildfire Season in Alberta runs March 1 – October 31
If you’re planning to burn, here’s what you need to know 
With the exception of campfires, fire permits are required for burning in the Yellowhead County Fire Permit Area and the local Forest Protection Area.
Starting March 1, fire permits are required for any existing or new burning (except campfires), in the Edson Forest Protection Area and the Yellowhead County Fire Permit Area.
Fire permits help track what is burning on the landscape. If you’re burning without a fire permit or outside fire permit conditions, your fire is considered a wildfire.
Yellowhead County controls the Yellowhead County Fire Permit Area.
Good news — permits are free! 
To request yours, contact Yellowhead County or your local Alberta Agriculture and Forestry Fire Protection Area office.
The Yellowhead County Fire Zone covers Evansburg and the surrounding area: Yellowhead County north of Hwy 16, starting from Highway 22 across to Yellowhead County’s eastern boundary at the Pembina River. If you require a Fire Permit for this area, call
