Council Priority Focus Items Review

Council has scheduled a half-day session on November 21 at 9:30 am to discuss potential priority items before the upcoming 2026 budget deliberations. The session will give Council the opportunity to ensure that short-term priority items are captured for Administration to include in the future Council budget discussions.

Council Strategic Planning Session

Council scheduled a strategic planning session on February 4 and 5, 2026 to develop the long-term strategic plans for Yellowhead County. The Council Strategic Plan is an overarching plan that sets out Council Priorities for the upcoming years.
Council will develop the plan in conjunction with a third-party consultant in Edmonton for 1.5 days of focused discussion.

Invitation to Tourism Budget Forum and Premier’s Dinner

Council received an invitation to the Alberta Economic Budget Forum & Premier’s Dinner on November 24, 2025. Council voted not to send a representative to attend the event. 

Budget Meeting Dates Discussion

Due to scheduling constraints for several Council members, the 2026 budget deliberations were rescheduled for December 1 and 2, 2025 at 9:30am. The budget deliberations will guide the 2026 Interim Budget that must be approved by December 31, 2025.

Emergency Management for Elected Officials

As per legislation, elected officials are required to complete emergency management training within 90 days of taking their Oath of Office. Following Administration’s recommendation, Council scheduled their emergency management training for January 13, 2026 at 1:00pm.

Finance 101: Guide to Municipal Finance

Administration presented a Guide to Municipal Finance to Council, providing a high-level overview on how municipal finance works and how financial decisions support the services provided to the community. Council received the Finance 101: Guide to Municipal Finance document and presentation for information purposes.

2025 Final Budget – Overview

Council accepted the 2025 Budget Overview for information purposes.

The next regular Council meetings are on November 25, 2025 and December 9, 2025.

The next Governance and Priorities Committee Meeting is on December 16, 2025.
