Public Hearing – A Public Hearing was held for proposed Bylaw 02.23 to rezone Plan 7622234 Block 4 Lot 1 from CRD (Country Residential District) to PD (Protection District). The purpose of the rezoning is to reduce the development options for the property and to keep it as a park. The proposed Bylaw will be brought back to an upcoming Council meeting.
Cadomin Ultra Race – Council approved a Letter of Support to the Cadomin Ultramarathon, expressing support for a $20,000 grant from Teck Resources for their event in July 2024.
FRIAA Recreation Trail – Council approved a Letter of Support to Weyerhaeuser for a Forest Resource Improvement Association of Alberta (FRIAA) grant for a recreation development project in and adjacent to Willmore Park and within the Town of Edson. This proposal is a collaboration of the Edson Cycling Association and the Town of Edson to expand the existing multi-use trail networks.
McLeod Valley Flood Repair – Council approved an unbudgeted expenditure of $80,000 to complete repairs at the McLeod Valley Recreation Area caused by the recent flooding in Yellowhead County. These expenditures will be submitted to the provincial Disaster Recovery Program (DRP) for reimbursement. If the provincial funding is not approved, these repair costs will be funded through the Community Services Reserve Fund.
Hinton Jasper Air Lease – Council directed Administration to process a renewed two (2) year lease with Jasper Hinton Air for a 12′ x 12′ office space with non-exclusive use of terminal facilities at the Hinton-Jasper Airport with a yearly value of $12,660.00 for rent.
Bridge Tender – Council awarded the 2023 bridge rehabilitation and maintenance contract to Bridgemen Services Ltd in the amount of $910,245.00. The tender includes one capital bridge project and maintenance on five other bridges. The funding falls under the Bridge Operating Budget.
Hinton Fish & Game – Council for Yellowhead County granted an exemption from taxation for a three-year period (2023/2024/2025) to the Hinton Fish & Game Association.
