COUNCIL HIGHLIGHTS July 22, 2025

Brule Community Hall Furniture Purchase
Council directed administration to proceed with the proposal to purchase furniture from the Brule Community Society for $68,379.46. Yellowhead County recently assumed operations of the Brule Community Hall from the society and the transfer of the furniture will assist continued hall operations. Funding will come from operational savings in the 2025 budget.

YCE Multiplex Structural & Decking Tender
Council awarded the YCE Multiplex Tender – Structural Steel & Metal Decking to Main Beam Fabrication in the amount of $5,205,933.25 (including the bond amount). The awarded tender was recommended by Clark Builders and supported by GEC Architecture and Tango Management. The winning tender bid was the lowest bid and met all the requirements of the tender.

Rural District to Country Residential District LUB Amendment
Land Use Bylaw amendment (Bylaw 03.25), to redistrict Part of SW-31-53-16-W5M from (Rural District) RD to (Country Residential District) CRD, was given first reading. The redistricting is intended to facilitate the subdivision of two proposed lots within the parcel. A Public Hearing is scheduled for September 9, 2025.

Removal of Municipal Reserve for Three Lots
First reading was given to Bylaw 04.25 to remove the Municipal Reserve (MR) on three County-owned lots in Evansburg, pursuant to the February 5, 2025 Council meeting wherein Administration was directed to proceed with the development of new residential lots at the end of 45th Avenue in Evansburg. This requires the removal of the MR designation to proceed. A Public Hearing is scheduled for September 9, 2025.

Closure of Road Allowance
Council passed Bylaw 14.24 that closes approximately 1.25 acres of a portion of an undeveloped road allowance on the north-east boundary of Wildwood. This allows for the adjacent property owner to purchase the property at the assessed value of $2,000.00 from the County and consolidate it into their property.

Requests to enter into a Property Tax Agreement
Council entered into two non-residential property tax agreements for 2025 in accordance with Policy 1200.21. Both Canlin Energy Corporation and Northrock Resources PTR Ltd. made agreement requests, each proposing a tax payment schedule to meet said agreement. Based on these proposals, Canlin entered into a six-month payment agreement, and Northrock entered into a ten-month payment agreement.
