Ag Response Letter from Minister – Council received a letter from the Minister of Agriculture and Irrigation addressing why Yellowhead County was not eligible for the 2023 AgriRecovery Program for livestock producers and the 2023 Canada-Alberta Drought Livestock Assistance Program. The minister’s letter stated that livestock producers in Yellowhead County did not meet the severe drought criteria as set out by the federal government.

Operational Support for Evansburg Legion – Council approved a Community Hall Operational Grant to the Evansburg Legion for the Community Hall portion of the facility, to a maximum of $20,000, in 2024 and 2025.

YCE Multiplex Construction Management – Council approved the YCE Steering Committee recommendation to award the Construction Management and Construction Services contract for the YCE Multiplex Facility to Clark Builders for a fee of 2.6% of the construction budget. Council also accepted an update on the YCE progress to date.

Proposed Subdivision – Bylaw 07.23 received first reading amending Land Use Bylaw 09.21 for Part of the SE 26-53-16-W5M. The approval of the bylaw would allow for a subdivision to create two new county residential parcels. A Public Hearing is scheduled for February 13, 2024.

Road Work Contract – The consulting engineering services agreement for road improvement projects for TWP 543A, TWP 544, and RR 144A was awarded to V3 Company in the amount of $522,381.00 (excluding GST) for preliminary engineering, detailed design, tender preparation and award, construction administration, and post-construction services.

Marlboro Water and Wastewater – Council gave Administration approval to proceed with re-designing the Marlboro lagoon and explore the most feasible and economical options available for the discharge of treated effluent to adjacent wetlands or creeks. This direction anticipates significant cost savings.
