STARS Foundation Presentation
STARS Foundation’s Senior Municipal Relations Liaison, Glenda Farnden, delivered a presentation updating Council on the impact of STARS in Yellowhead County over the past decade. Council accepted the presentation as information.
Wolf Creek Grazing Lease Request
Council approved a five-year grazing lease for a 0.53-acre parcel (Plan 1035AR Part of Block W) at a rate of $18.00 per year. The lease was advertised, and one expression of interest was received from the current lessee whose lease expires on February 28, 2026.
Music Festivals in Yellowhead County
A report on Bylaw 22.13 (Concerts & Extended Dance/Music Events Bylaw) was presented to Council after residents and the promoter of a particular upcoming music event shared their views at earlier meetings on its impact and benefits for local residents and businesses. The Bylaw will be reviewed later in 2026.
Property Assessment Exemption Status
Council granted an exemption from taxation for a three-year period (2026-2028) to ten non-profit groups. The exemption falls under Section 362(1)(n) of the Municipal Government Act and Alberta Regulation 281/1998 Community Organization Property Exemption Regulation.
Elk Valley Resources Haul-Route
Council directed Administration to bring an Elk Valley Resources (EVR) haul-route matter back for discussion during open session at a future Council meeting.
Brule Rodeo Grounds
Council directed Administration to close the Brule Rodeo Grounds until consensus is received for a go-forward plan for use of the grounds by the Brule Community Society and the Brule Heritage Rodeo Association. The community groups will have an opportunity to present their positions to Council at an upcoming Governance and Priorities meeting.
