Cougar Rock Area Structure Plan Public Hearing
A Public Hearing was held for Bylaw 01.26, a bylaw to repeal the Cougar Rock Area Structure Plan. No public presentations or written responses were received for the public hearing. Council forwarded Bylaw 01.26 to their February 24, 2026, Council meeting in consideration of second and third reading.
West Yellowhead Community Futures – Investment Review Committee
Councillor Jack Williams’ previous appointment to the West Yellowhead Community Futures’ Investment Review Committee was rescinded following the appointment of Councillor Shallen Erickson at WYCF’s January 13 meeting. The subcommittee was also removed from the boards and committees listing to prevent future appointments.
Parkland County Council Joint Meeting Request
Parkland County Council and Administration requested a joint meeting with Yellowhead County Council to discuss opportunities that could benefit both municipalities. Council will discuss potential dates at their February 24 meeting.
Federal Funding Information on Disasters
Council directed Administration to bring back information on Federal and Provincial Disaster Funding to a future Council meeting for Council consideration.
Letter of Notice Regarding Future Operations of the Evansburg Legion
A Letter of Notice was received from the Evansburg Legion Branch #196 regarding future operations of the Evansburg Legion/Community Hall. Council accepted the letter of notice as information.
YCE Multiplex Sponsorship Policy
A YCE Multiplex Sponsorship policy was prepared in partnership by the Town of Edson and Yellowhead County. The policy provides a transparent sponsorship framework to ensure consistent evaluation and approval processes across both municipalities. Council adopted Policy 1100.26 as amended.
EVR Haul Route
Council declined the offer to take over portions of the Elk Valley Resources (EVR) haul road. The decision was the result of previous discussions and information shared with Council and Administration from EVR. Council directed Administration to continue to work with EVR throughout their reclamation process.
Peers Fire Station Tender Bid Results
After receiving seven tender bid submissions, Council awarded the contract to renovate the New Peers Fire Station to Vantage Builders at a cost of $1,845,050.00. The accepted bid was the lowest submitted bid that met all the bid requirements.
2025 Update on Corporate Credit Card Policy for Mayor
Council received the 2025 annual update on Policy 1200.23 (Corporate Credit Card – Mayor) as information. A summary of the card use for 2025 along with monthly statements and receipts were reviewed by Council.
2025 Audit Planning Letter
Council confirmed receipt for the 2025 Audit Planning Letter from Metrix Group LLP. Council also provided a response to item ‘I’ of the Audit Planning Letter for the period ending December 31, 2025.
Appointment of Assessment Review Board Officials 2026
As a member of the Capital Regions Assessment Services Commission (CRASC) intermunicipal group for Assessment Review Services (ARB), Council appointed Raymond Ralph as ARB Chairman; Gerryl Amorin as Certified ARB Clerk; and Darlene Chartrand, Sheryl Exley, Tina Groszko, Richard Knowles, Marcel LeBlanc, Roland Merkosky, and Raymond Ralph as Certified Panelists for the three-year period of 2025 to 2027.
