Yellowhead County 2025 Municipal Election will take place on Monday, October 20, 2025.

On Monday, October 20, 2025, Yellowhead County voters will elect:
One (1) Mayor
Eight (8) Councillors. One Councillor for 8 Divisions
2025 Municipal Election Important Dates:
- January 1, 2025: Office Closed
- January 2, 2025: Nominations Open
- September 22, 2025: Nominations Close
- TBA: Advance Polls
- October 20, 2025: Election Day
January 1, 2025 – First Day of Nomination Period
- Note: County Offices will open beginning January 2, 2025, to accept nomination papers.
- The nomination period runs from January 1, 2025, to September 22, 2025, at 12:00 P.M.
- Coming Soon: Candidate information packages, including all necessary forms for submitting nomination papers, will be available to download from our website and can be picked up at the Edson & Wildwood Offices during office hours.
- Candidates can file nomination papers anytime during the nomination period with the Returning Officer during office hours.
September 22, 2025 – Nomination Day
- Nomination papers must be filed by 12:00 P.M.
October 20, 2025 – Municipal Election Day
Register to Vote – NEW
Voters will be required to register to vote in Municipal Elections as per the changes to the Local Authorities Election Act (Bill 20 – Municipal Affairs Statutes Amendment Act, 2024). The voter’s list will be provided to the County under a Data Sharing Agreement with Elections Alberta.
Voters are encouraged to register to vote by visiting Elections Alberta in advance of the election.
