Wildfire End of Day Update – May 2, 2023

– The WCU002 fire affecting Wildwood and Lobstick area residents is currently being maintained in its boundaries.
– Structural protection, including the use of sprinklers, has continued in the hamlet of Wildwood.
– In their 12 PM update, Alberta Wildfire stated that a total of 10 pieces of heavy equipment and six helicopters were assisting 31 firefighters. Two heavy helicopters bucketed on the south side of the wildfire yesterday and have continued where needed.
– All containment lines have been completed and firefighters will monitor these lines
– Tomorrow, Alberta Wildfire expects a total of 14 pieces of heavy equipment and six helicopters will be assisting 59 firefighters. They will continue to work in high priority areas to reinforce established containment lines.
– A meeting will be held at the Edson & District Leisure Centre tomorrow morning (May 3rd) at 11 AM. Any important information shared at this meeting will continue to be published online on our Facebook page and website.

– Evansburg and area evacuees affected by the WCU001 fire were able to return home today at 12 Noon.
