Message from Mayor Eglinski on COVID-19 in Yellowhead County

I want to thank all the residents and businesses in Yellowhead County for working together to overcome the COVID-19 pandemic.

The strongest tool we have is ourselves – we must be cautious in social distancing and keep ourselves free of germs with good hygiene practices.

We all will have hardships such as not socializing with family and friends, having to stay indoors, and staying away from others. Alberta Health has warned us about the elderly or people with weakened immune systems and the impacts COVID-19 could have on them – we must respect these folks and keep away, even from family.

Due to the lack of work and other economic hardships, some federal financial programs are being offered to help assist many of those in our region affected financially by this situation.

If you have travelled lately and returned to Yellowhead County, please respect everyone’s safety and well-being and self-isolate.

I do not want to repeat what has been said already many times of what to do and what not to do, but what I want to say to all of you, on behalf of Yellowhead County, is that we are all in this together. As Albertans, we will beat this pandemic together.

Yellowhead County’s website will continue to give you COVID-19 updates as we get them from federal and provincial authorities.

To all of you out there, God Bless, take care, and stay strong.

Jim Eglinski
