Kids in the Hall is Back!

A message from our Family and Community Support Services (FCSS) Staff:

Dear Parents,

We hope you all had a great summer. With summer ending, comes the shift into fall programming.

One of the programs starting up is Kids in the Hall (KITH), a 4 week after school program! KITH provides a safe fun space for children ages 7 – 11 to challenge themselves, learn new skills and connect with others. This program will be filled with games, crafts and many other fun activities.

We have exciting news this year in regards to the KITH Program:

  1. New locations!
  2. Youth leaders!

Kids in the Hall Youth Leaders will participate twice a week (Tuesdays and Thursdays) from 3:30 – 5:30 PM. Youth leaders are an exciting new addition; these are youth aged 12 – 18 who will learn leadership skills and even facilitate some KITH programming alongside staff.

Tuesdays: Youth will gain new skills around leadership and co-facilitating a program. They will learn communication techniques, problem-solving skills, how to work as a team, and encouragement while building self-esteem. After successfully completing the 4-week program, youth will receive a certificate along with a reference letter.

Thursdays:  Youth leaders will co-facilitate the Kids in the Hall after school program, putting into practice the skills they learned on Tuesday.

The Children’s Program Coordinator (Jenna Truemner) and Youth Services Coordinator (Sandie Labrie) will be on-site to facilitate the program and provide support.

To ensure health and safety for all participants, Kids in the Hall will be following the AHS COVID-19 relaunch guidance rules for Day Camps.

If you have a youth between the ages of 12 – 18 interested in participating in the program or want more information, please call 780-325-3782 to sign up.
