Christmas Decorating Contest 2022

Yellowhead County Parks & Recreation wants to see your beautifully decorated homes and businesses! Find the full contest rules and details below:

  • Details
    • Who has the most festive abode in all of Yellowhead County? Enter your home or business, decked up for the holidays, to help spread Christmas cheer and have a chance to win great prizes! These will be awarded to the ‘Best Overall’, ‘Most Creative’, ‘Best in Business’ (commercial), and ‘Most Eco-conscious Design’.
    • Runs December 1 through 18, with prizes awarded on December 22.
  • Rules and Eligibility
    • Home or business must be located in Yellowhead County.
    • Entry must be submitted by home owner.
    • Only one entry for each home/business. Each entry will be automatically considered for all categories they qualify for.
    • Decorations must adhere to all bylaws.
    • Submitted photographs and videos may be shared in conjunction with entrant’s name (addresses will not be shared).
  • How to enter
    • You must register your house with Yellowhead County’s Recreation Coordinator by 11:59 PM on Sunday, December 18.
    • Write “Christmas Decorating Contest” in the subject line.
    • Include your name and pictures of your decorations – judging will be done via the pictures, so make sure they show your decorations as best as possible! If you have special music or lights, please send a short video clip as well.
    • Include your address (staff use only)
    • A form will be sent back to you for permission to use the submitted photographs. Please sign and return at your earliest convenience to complete your entry.
  • Judging
    • Will be judged by Yellowhead County staff members
    • Judging will be done by reviewing the photographs – so be sure to submit clear photos! Staff may drive by the address provided to verify.
    • Will be judging on the following factors:
      • Quantity and placement of decorations (are there any gaps?)
      • Creativity – have we seen this before?
      • Consideration of number of elements used – lights, music, decorations
      • Consideration of theme
      • Overall appearance
